HELLO.

SHARE IN OUR PASSION FOR SPACE

It all began in 2020 when a group of like-minded students & space enthusiasts decided they needed a place to celebrate everything space.  Starting as a club we soon grew in a very short length of time, becoming a society less than 12 months since our inception.  We aim to offer all members inspiring talks, thought-provoking chats & a place to truly let their full space-geek come out.
Welcome.

Hi my name is Lauren. I’m currently studying Astronomy & Planetary Science with OU.
I played the piano for 12 years. I am AAT Level 3 qualified and have a certificate of higher education in Accounting from BCU. I left my career in accounting to look after my daughter and study a subject that I truly find interesting!

HELEN ROGERS

EDI Officer

Hi, my name is Helen and I am studying for a BSc (Hons) Natural Sciences (Astronomy and Planetary Science). This is my second degree, my first was a BSc (Hons) Environmental Health. After a 13-year career in that field I gave it up to care for my 3 children and decided to study a topic that I have always loved! I would love to work in the space sector when I have completed my studies, although I am still not sure which part! It is never too late to follow a dream!

ANNETTE HUNSLEY

Merchandise Officer

Hi. I’m currently studying Bsc Planetary Science and Astronomy.  Having just completed Level 1 (in 2021).  Studying part-time because of work and motherhood.
I’m a keen (very) amateur astrophotographer but currently not brave enough to shoot beyond the Moon.  However, she’s so enchanting who would want to really?!  My bortle 8 skies make it a challenge to be honest but never say never.
I’m fascinated by human space travel so love Nasa merch! Which makes me the perfect fit for Merchandise officer.  You can find me posting regularly about #spacefashionfriday.  Looking forward to getting you all the gear.  Let’s geek out together!

PAUL SUTTON

Newsletter Team

My name is Paul Sutton, I am not currently studying so am sort of Alumni, so joined the OUSA Science club and am now helping with the newsletter. I completed a Certificate in Contemporary Science back in 2012. I am still studying via OpenLearn courses and recently completed in the night sky - Orion and Particle Physics. This was a really good way to update knowledge or study specific topics.

Hey, I’m Ben. I’m currently studying towards an MSc in Space Science and Technology (F77) and I previously completed the BSc Natural Sciences (Physics) both with the Open University. I’ve always had an interest in space from watching Star Wars as a kid to reading far too much Sci-fi through my teens and my many misadventures playing Kerbal Space Program. The astronomy and space science modules of my studies have always been the most interesting for me, I really recommend the S818 Space Science module, it’s probably my favourite module I’ve done with the OU, especially the Mars rover week.
