About the Event

Prof Read is an Emeritus Professor and part-time researcher in the Department of Physics, and Emeritus Fellow and former Tutor in Physics at Trinity College, University of Oxford, UK. Although semi-retired, in the Department he leads the Geophysical and Planetary Fluid Dynamics group, in which they investigate the fundamental dynamics underpinning the circulations of planetary atmospheres and oceans. This entails a combination of the analysis of spacecraft observations of (mostly Solar System) planetary atmospheres, numerical circulation modelling and laboratory experiments on rotating, stratified flows.
